Vacations should not only be reasons for fun and walking around new places, especially if you take your kids with you. Instead, you should choose educational places that will enrich their knowledge and improve the way they see things. While taking your child on a vacation or a family trip, you should also enhance their knowledge and raise their interest for important artifacts and places that are part of their cultural heritage. You should also enlarge their knowledge on animals, birds or insects that live in your country or even discover the amazing flora and fauna of other countries.
Most children are fascinated about museums because they display ancient things that they would otherwise not have the occasion to see. The list of museums where you can take your child is very long and you should not settle with the museums in your town as there are many others worldwide. From art museums where children can have a taste of the finest art, to history museums where they learn about our ancestors, to science museums where they can discover their passion for scientific work, museums have the power to open the minds of children. The Rijksmuseum museum in Amsterdam or the State Hermitage museum in Russia are popular art museums of the world while Smithsonian museum is a large complex of art and research that will fascinate children. Not to mention the famous Louvre or Madame Tussaud, which are visited by hundreds of people every day.
National parks and zoos
These amazing places to visit reveal the beauty of nature in its most pure form and this is where children can discover various landforms, animals, plants and trees, all put together in a place easy to access. Guided tours around national parks like the Grand Canyon or Yellowstone show children the unseen side of nature and increase their interest for biology. If a national park is not within your reach, you can always take your child to a local zoo where they can see different species of animals and birds and can have a refreshing walk.
Many institutions organize visits for children to discover what is happening behind closed doors. These visits, usually called “Open Gates Day” offer children the possibility to visit buildings like the City Hall, the Parliament, the Firemen Department or the District Court where children’s access is not usually granted. Follow the schedule of these institutions in your city and allow your child to discover their charm and maybe this way they will even discover what they want to become when they grow up.
