Most children don’t like science because they find it cumbersome and complicated, but science can be a lot of fun if you know how to turn it into a game that your child will find very interesting. With a little skills and imagination, you can help your kids create great science projects for school or as a hobby that will train their minds in a fun way, so choose one of the following science projects and attract your kids into the playful side of science.
Grow veggies from scraps
Gardening is a great way of attracting your children into a productive and healthy activity that will form them as responsible persons, therefore a gardening project is a great idea. To make it more scientific, you will need some items and tools that will help your kids actually grow veggies from scrap. Star by building a soil bed for the plants to sit in using a wooden crate that you wrap in plastic foil to help keep the water in the soil. Then plant the veggies in seedlings keeping a small distance between them to allow the roots to extend and you can even build a watering system using some straws as pipes. Now your plants will need light and if you can not leave the miniature garden outdoors, you will need a led grow lighting system to boost the growth and bloom of the veggies. These systems create a full spectrum of light that is absorbed by the plants the same way as the sunlight is, so that the plants will have a fully growing environment with all the proper conditions for blooming and flowering.
Make a volcano erupt
Every kid is interested in how volcanoes erupt and you can help your child make a demonstration by using simple items you have at home. Chances are you do not have a small volcano within reach, so you can build one using paper and plaster or clay and once you built it you will need a small plastic container like the ones that hold the 35mm films. You will also need two spoonfuls powder baking soda, a spoonful of liquid dish soap, red and yellow food colorant and some vinegar for the lava, and you can start the experiment. Place the small container into the top of the volcano, put the baking soda, the dish soap, the food colorant and when everything is in place, add some vinegar and let science do its work. The acid will react with the baking soda and the foam will run down just like real lava does when real volcanoes erupt.
